Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Awards Government Honors to 225 Sports Competition Contributors

Eleven Recipients Including Jang Young-su and Kang Shin-saeng Awarded Presidential Citation

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korean Sports Council will award government honors to individuals who contributed to the hosting of the National Sports Festival at the operation evaluation meeting held on the 6th at the Sunshine Hotel in Daejeon. The awards include 11 Presidential Citations, 15 Prime Minister Citations, and 199 Ministerial Citations, totaling 225 recipients. Vice Minister Jang Mi-ran will visit the site to offer encouragement.

The awards for contributions to hosting sports events are given to those who prepared and managed events such as the National Sports Festival, Youth Sports Festival, Winter Sports Festival, National Paralympic Games, Disabled Students Sports Festival, Disabled Winter Sports Festival, and National Sports for All Festival, or who nurtured athletes. Applications are solicited from local governments, education offices, the Korean Sports Council, and the Korean Paralympic Committee, and recipients are selected through a public merit review committee.


The Presidential Citations are awarded to Jang Young-su, Local Secretary of Ulsan Metropolitan City; Kang Shin-saeng, Principal of Ulsan Sports Science High School; Kim Doo-hwan, Team Leader of Ulsan Metropolitan City Sports Council; Lee Byung-jin, Advisor to the Korean Sports Council; Jung Sang-mi, Local Administrative Officer of Ulsan Metropolitan City; Cho Hyun-sook, Supervisor of Ulsan Metropolitan City Office of Education; Oh Seung-jun, Manager of Ulsan Metropolitan City Sports Council; Wang Jin-ho, Secretary General of the Ulsan Marine Corps Veterans Association; Kim Chang-hoon, Head of Ulsan Metropolitan City Korean Paralympic Committee Headquarters; and Song Myung-geun, Manager of the Korean Sports Council.


The Prime Minister Citations are awarded to Lee Sook-ja, Local Administrative Officer of Ulsan Metropolitan City; Kim Yoo-won, Manager of Ulsan Metropolitan City Sports Council; Joo Jin-woo, Manager of the Korean Sports Council; Nam Yeon-ji, Local Administrative Clerk of Ulsan Metropolitan City; Ryu Dong-jo, Supervisor of Ulsan Metropolitan City Office of Education; Hwang Seong-hoon, School Sports Team Coach at Sang-an Middle School in Ulsan Metropolitan City; Lee Jae-hoon, Manager of Ulsan Metropolitan City Sports Council; Park Da-yeon, Deputy Manager of the Korean Sports Council; Han Dong-ho, Local Industrial Clerk of Ulsan Metropolitan City; Shin Young-sung, Manager of Ulsan Metropolitan City Disabled Sports Council; Kim Jang-hoon, Assistant Local Administrative Clerk of Gyeongsangbuk-do; and Cho Dae-gon, Deputy Manager of Gyeongsangbuk-do Sports Council.


Vice Minister Jang said, "I am grateful for providing athletes with opportunities to challenge themselves and gifting the public with moments of inspiration," adding, "I ask for much cooperation and interest so that the experience gained from hosting the sports festival will lead to the successful hosting of the Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games next year."
