Emart Phan Huu Ich Store Opens in Ho Chi Minh
No Brand Area Expanded by 60% and Product Range Increased
"Leading the Market as the No.1 Local Hypermarket Store"
Emart announced on the 6th that it will open its 3rd store in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on the 7th.
The 3rd store is located in the Phan Huy Ich area of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It is a new store introduced after about a year and is the largest among local Emart stores, built with an area of 6,930㎡ (2,100 pyeong). The 1st store in the same Ho Chi Minh (Gobaap branch) is 1,800 pyeong, and the 2nd store (Sala branch) is 1,200 pyeong in size.
The increased space will be used to expand Korean products. The core of Korean products is Emart’s representative PL No Brand. No Brand is located in the store in the form of a ‘shop-in-shop.’ Compared to the 1st store, the No Brand store area in the 3rd store has increased by 60%. Currently, No Brand is very popular locally in Vietnam because it is considered the safest and most economical way to purchase high-quality Korean products. No Brand accounts for more than 10% of total sales.
Emart has also prepared Korean agricultural products and K-food, which are highly favored by young consumers. Products such as Nonsan Kingsberry and Sangju Shine Muscat, which are delivered by airplane, are popular among Vietnamese consumers despite their high prices. The store’s deli corner plans to sell Emart pizza and gimbap. Currently, at the 1st store, about 300 pizzas and 500 gimbap rolls are sold daily, showing strong interest.
Emart plans to grow the 3rd store into the top large-scale supermarket in Vietnam by joining forces with its local partner, Taco Group. Furthermore, Emart Vietnam will be used as an all-weather base for targeting the Southeast Asian market. Song Manjun, Executive Director of Emart PL/Global Business Division, said, "Through close collaboration with local partners who have extensive networks and assets in Vietnam, we will further promote expansion in the Southeast Asian market."
To showcase differentiated competitiveness, delivery services will also be strengthened. Currently, delivery focuses on short distances, but plans are underway to expand delivery areas and increase the range of deliverable products. Expanding the local Emart application (app) into a platform where not only Emart products but also other companies’ products can be ordered is also under consideration.
