Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province has completed a modern remodeling project of the aging 'Sunae-dong Naejeong Underground Passage' in Bundang-gu and recently opened it to residents.
To prevent safety accidents and efficiently manage the urban environment, Seongnam City carried out remodeling work on the Naejeong Underground Passage, located at 68-1 Sunae-dong, Bundang-gu, which is 39.4 meters long and 6 meters wide, starting from May.
The remodeling design was improved to a friendly style reflecting local characteristics by collecting opinions from local residents. Additionally, LED lighting and indirect lights were newly installed inside the underground passage to create a safe and bright environment.
Safety handrails for pedestrians, which were not previously installed, were added in the box (BOX) corridor to enhance convenience for vulnerable pedestrians. The underground passage entrance toward Neunggol Park, which suffered flooding damage last year, was raised in height to prevent future flood damage.
A Seongnam City official stated, "We expect that with this remodeling project of the Naejeong Underground Passage, local residents will be able to use it more safely and conveniently."
