Dongdaemun-gu Holds '2024 Warm Winter' Love Temperature Tower Unveiling Ceremony on the Morning of the 1st... Temperature Rises 1℃ for Every 12.84 Million Won Raised... Operated Until February 14 Next Year During Warm Winter Project Period
Dongdaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) held the "2024 Warm Winter Love Thermometer Unveiling Ceremony" on the morning of the 1st at the first-floor lobby of the district office.
The "Warm Winter Project," hosted by the Seoul Community Chest of Korea and sponsored by Dongdaemun-gu, is a winter neighbor-helping initiative that allows residents to directly support neighbors in need within the community through donations.
On this day, the district installed a "Love Thermometer," which displays the fundraising status as a temperature gauge, to promote the Warm Winter Project and create an atmosphere encouraging donations, and held the unveiling ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by Choi Hong-yeon, Deputy Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, Yoo Eun-kyung, Team Leader of the Regional Business Team at the Community Chest of Korea, and Go Byung-su, a senior staff member, along with the presidents of the local kindergarten association and daycare center association.
The presidents of the kindergarten and daycare center associations participating in the event donated the piggy banks collected by the children through the "Sharing Good Influence with Little Hands? Ddaenggeurang One Coin" project, a piggy bank sharing campaign conducted this year by the Dongdaemun-gu Community Security Council. The amount collected by kindergarten children was 6,793,540 KRW, and the amount collected by daycare children was 11,456,940 KRW, delivering a positive influence to the local community.
The Love Thermometer installed in the first-floor lobby of the district office rises by 1℃ for every 12.84 million KRW raised, reaching 100℃ when the target amount of 1,284,040,000 KRW is achieved. The Love Thermometer will operate until February 14, 2024, during the "2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Project."
For three months, the district will accept donations and goods from local residents, businesses, religious organizations, and philanthropists in the community, and will also conduct non-face-to-face fundraising using QR codes for easy participation.
The funds and goods collected during the project period will be delivered through the Seoul Community Chest of Korea to low-income residents in need of welfare services such as basic livelihood security recipients and near-poverty groups, as well as to facilities, institutions, and organizations implementing social welfare projects.
Choi Hong-yeon, Deputy Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, "I hope the Love Thermometer will blaze beyond 100 degrees by delivering warmth to neighbors in need and spreading good influence throughout the community. We ask for your active interest in fundraising and collecting goods so that our neighbors in difficulty can spend a warm and healthy winter."
