Naju City in Jeollanam-do is recruiting participants for the 2024 senior job project to promote an active retirement for local elderly residents.
Naju City (Mayor Yoon Byung-tae) announced on the 4th that applications for participation in the senior job project in four sectors will be accepted until the 15th at 20 eup/myeon/dong offices and 6 project execution institutions.
Next year, a total of 3,805 jobs will be recruited, an increase of 465 from the previous year. A project budget of 16.2 billion KRW (50% national funds, 15% provincial funds, 35% city funds) will be invested.

The senior jobs (number of participants) are divided into four sectors: ‘Public Interest Activity Type’ (2,900 people), ‘Social Service Type’ (605 people), ‘Market Type’ (200 people), and ‘Employment Referral Type’ (100 people).
The projects are carried out through directly managed projects by eup/myeon/dong offices, Dongbu Senior Welfare Center, and Jungbu Senior Welfare Center, as well as projects by four executing institutions: Naju Senior Club, Naju Senior Welfare Center, Korea Senior Citizens Association Naju Branch, and Doulin Welfare Association.
The remuneration for public interest activity type jobs, which contribute to the enhancement of the local community’s public interest, is 290,000 KRW per month based on 30 hours of work per month. This is an increase of 20,000 KRW compared to the previous year.
The social service type focuses on community care tailored to the capabilities of participating seniors, paying 634,000 KRW per month based on 60 hours of work, which is 40,000 KRW more than last year.
The market type jobs create employment by jointly operating small stores and specialized business groups considering the abilities and aptitudes of seniors. The average monthly remuneration is set at 2.67 million KRW.
The employment referral type connects senior job participants with demand sites and pays wages according to the labor contract.
The basic eligibility requirement for applicants is to be 65 years or older and a basic pension recipient, but some social service type and market type projects allow residents aged 60 or older to participate. Inquiries about application requirements can be made to the four project execution institutions.
Applicants can submit their application forms in person at eup/myeon/dong offices or job project execution institutions with identification and resident registration documents, or apply online through the Bokjiro website.
The city plans to make the final selection of participants on the 22nd based on the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s selection criteria.
Selected participants will complete accident insurance enrollment, safety and job training starting from January next year, and then actively participate in the job project.
A Naju city official said, “We hope that seniors can live an active retirement with pride as members of society engaged in economic activities through various jobs.”
