Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 4th that it will hold the 21st Century Jangseong Academy by inviting Professor Kang Young-cheol, a visiting professor at the Graduate School of International Policy at the Korea Development Institute (KDI), at the Jangseong Culture and Arts Center Small Theater on the 7th.
Professor Kang graduated from the Department of Economics at Seoul National University and earned his Ph.D. at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Business while working as a newspaper reporter.
He organized the ‘World Knowledge Forum’ and the ‘Vision Korea National Report Conference’ at Maeil Business Newspaper, served as economic editor and editorial writer, and from 2014 for three years, served as the head of the Regulatory Coordination Office at the Office for Government Policy Coordination.
His major publications include ‘Heading Toward a Country That Cannot Prosper Together (co-author)’ and ‘Government Usage Manual (co-author).’
In this academy, he plans to diagnose the reality where regulations are hindering the growth of the Korean economy and lecture on the attitude public officials should take toward regulatory reform.
Watching director Ken Loach’s film ‘I, Daniel Blake (2016)’ before the lecture will help in understanding the content.
The ‘21st Century Jangseong Academy,’ a social education program that holds the world record for the longest continuous operation, is held every first and third Thursday of the month.
Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis without prior registration, and real-time attendance is also possible through Jangseong-gun’s YouTube channel.
