The People Power Party is attracting attention by recruiting Professor Lee Su-jeong from the Department of Criminal Psychology at Kyonggi University as a talent for next year's general election. As the candidacies of Cabinet members such as Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon and Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Won Hee-ryong become more visible, it appears that the party intends to secure a firm leadership position by additionally recruiting figures with high public recognition.

The People Power Party's Talent Recruitment Committee announced on the 2nd that they have decided to recruit Professor Lee. The party recently proposed recruitment to Professor Lee, who accepted the offer, making it successful. Professor Lee also served as a co-chair of the election campaign committee for presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol during the last presidential election.

Professor Lee is considering running in a local constituency rather than as a proportional representative. The local constituency being discussed is Suwon, where Kyonggi University, where Professor Lee works, is located. Currently, all five electoral districts in Suwon are held by the Democratic Party of Korea, making it a region where conservative parties are at a disadvantage. The People Power Party plans to reclaim more than half of the Suwon electoral districts in next year's general election by fielding popular figures.

Within the ruling party, there are also ongoing rumors about Jang Mi-ran, a former sports star and the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, being drafted for the general election. It is speculated that Vice Minister Jang might run in Osan, Gyeonggi Province, facing off against Democratic Party five-term veteran lawmaker Ahn Min-seok, or possibly run as a proportional representative. Vice Minister Jang's future moves are expected to become clearer after President Yoon Seok-yeol's cabinet reshuffle on the 4th.

Jang Ye-chan, the youngest Supreme Council member of the People Power Party, said on CBS Radio on the 4th regarding the recruitment of Professor Lee, "She clearly has a distinct area of expertise and also enjoys high public recognition, so if the recruitment is successfully completed, it will be a great help for the People Power Party in the next general election," adding, "I expect more talents like this to be recruited, and the overall atmosphere needs to be revitalized."
