Samsung SDS announced on the 4th that it has obtained the CEIV Lithium Battery Air Transport Certification from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The CEIV Lithium Battery certification is a global standard certification issued by IATA to companies that demonstrate expertise and excellence in international transport by evaluating over 260 items including lithium battery transport procedures, facilities, equipment, and regulations. Lithium batteries pose a fire risk during transportation, requiring specialized transport and management.
Samsung SDS has established international transport hazardous materials handling standards and incorporated them into logistics operations. In particular, it has applied detailed handling procedures and standards for lithium batteries based on their type and capacity.
Through this certification, Samsung SDS will also apply the verified lithium battery air transport procedures and standards in detail to its digital logistics service, 'Cello Square.' By commercializing this, it will continue to expand its logistics business area.
Oh Gu-il, Vice President and Head of Samsung SDS Logistics Division, said, "By obtaining this globally recognized international standard certification, our expertise in lithium battery air transport has been acknowledged, enhancing customer trust. We will continuously improve our logistics operational competitiveness to provide differentiated logistics services to our customers."
