Busan City Receives ‘Top Excellence Award’ for Two Consecutive Years in Child Policy Implementation Plan Evaluation

Honored with Two Consecutive Years of Awards for Local Government Child Policy Implementation Plan Evaluation

Busan Metropolitan City and Dong-gu Among Basic Local Governments Receive Top Awards

Busan City received the Grand Prize among 17 metropolitan local governments in the 'Local Government Child Policy Implementation Plan Evaluation' hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare on the 1st.

Busan City, awarded the 'Best Excellence Award' for two consecutive years in the evaluation of local government child policy implementation plans.

According to Article 8 of the 'Child Welfare Act,' the heads of cities and provinces establish annual child policy implementation plans, and the Ministry of Health and Welfare evaluates the implementation performance of these plans every year for 17 cities and provinces nationwide and 229 cities, counties, and districts.

In this evaluation, the Grand Prize was awarded to Busan City, Jeonbuk Province, and Dong-gu of Busan City; the Excellence Award went to Daegu, Gwangju, Gyeonggi, Chungnam, Chuncheon City in Gangwon, and Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk; and the Effort Award was given to Incheon.

Busan City pursued 236 tasks under four promotion strategies with the vision of "A city where all children are happy and respected, Busan," and received high scores in both qualitative and quantitative evaluations based on the 2nd Basic Child Policy Plan ('20?'24) evaluation manual and expert reviews in related fields.

Busan City set four policy goals: respecting children's rights and realizing policies, establishing a public protection network as a safety net for children in need of protection, creating a child-friendly city that all children can feel, and responding to child welfare crises and supporting daily recovery amid COVID-19.

Based on the 2nd Basic Child Policy Plan, Busan City achieved high scores in all 14 detailed indicators across three evaluation areas?appropriateness of plan establishment (10 points), fidelity of implementation (20 points), and achievement of outcomes (70 points)?earning the Grand Prize for two consecutive years.

Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated, "The achievement of winning the Grand Prize for two consecutive years in the child policy implementation plan evaluation is the result of sincere efforts by the city, districts, counties, and the education office in carrying out child-related projects," adding, "We will continue to actively strive to make Busan 'a city where children are happy' and 'a city where people want to live again.'"
