Meeting at Barogo Headquarters on the 4th
The Personal Information Protection Commission announced on the 4th that it held a meeting with participating companies of the public-private cooperative self-regulatory agreement in the delivery agency platform sector at the Barogo headquarters located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
At the meeting, Choi Jang-hyuk, Vice Chairman of the Personal Information Protection Commission, the Chairman of the Delivery Service Mutual Aid Association, the Head of the Personal Information Protection Division at the Korea Internet & Security Agency, as well as representatives from five separated delivery agency platform companies including Logiol, Manna Corporation, Barogo, Vroong, and Spidercraft attended. Separated delivery agency platforms are businesses that connect restaurants and delivery workers.
In February, the Personal Information Protection Commission established a public-private cooperative self-regulatory agreement for personal information protection tailored to the characteristics of each sector with platform operators in the order delivery (order brokerage, order integration management, delivery agency) field. Accordingly, platform operators in the order delivery sector prepared a standard interworking agreement for the safe transmission of order information and personal information processing between parties.
During the meeting, participants shared difficulties encountered in implementing the self-regulatory agreement and discussed effective personal information protection measures considering industry characteristics. The participating companies agreed to continuously participate in the public-private cooperative self-regulation and collectively pledged to strive to create an environment where the public can use platform services with confidence.
Vice Chairman Choi Jang-hyuk stated, “I commend the delivery agency platform operators for investing significant human and material resources and efforts to strengthen the level of personal information protection in their personal information processing systems according to the self-regulatory agreement,” and added, “Let us continue to work together in the public and private sectors to build a safer personal information protection system.”
Going forward, the Personal Information Protection Commission will verify and inspect the implementation results of the public-private cooperative self-regulatory agreement by order delivery platform companies and encourage the implementation of personal information protection measures for any deficiencies.
