Announcement of Change in Park Development Plan for Two Children's Parks in Dongbu Ichon-dong on the 23rd of Last Month
Small Parks Subdivided into Children's Parks... Creation of Play, Rest Facilities, and Green Spaces
Maintenance Construction Starting from March Next Year with a 1 Billion Won Investment... Completion Targeted in the First Half
Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) announced on the 23rd of last month the decision to change the park development plans for Kkum Namu Children's Park (Ichon-dong 301-86) and Ichon Children's Park (Ichon-dong 301-60) located in Dongbu Ichon-dong, and officially notified the topographic maps.
The Dongbu Ichon-dong area has large apartment complexes, daycare centers, and elementary schools, but there is a shortage of outdoor playgrounds and resting spaces for children.
Accordingly, the district prepared a plan to create children's parks where children can freely play and experience nature in the urban environment, and reclassified two existing small parks (with a facility rate of 20% or less) into children's parks (with a facility rate of 60% or less), officially notifying the changes.
After completing the implementation plan approval this year, a full-scale renovation project will begin in March next year with an investment of 1 billion KRW to create playground facilities, rest areas, and green spaces. The district plans to accelerate the project aiming for completion in the first half of next year.
Kkum Namu Children's Park (1,352.4㎡) will utilize a large elm tree within the park as a symbolic tree and will be developed into an eco-friendly children's park harmonizing with the surrounding trees. Connectivity with nearby apartment complexes and bus stops will also be considered to emphasize its function as a comfortable resting space easily accessible in daily life.
Additionally, Ichon Children's Park (1,736.9㎡) will feature children's play facilities along with a barefoot walking circular trail. In response to the nationwide barefoot walking trend, the trail will allow visitors to feel the loess path underfoot tailored to their bodies, contributing to the health promotion of district residents.
Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, stated, “As this children's park project is being promoted despite various challenges, we will develop it into a park where children can freely play and experience nature in the urban environment.” He added, “We will continue to expand community-oriented parks that anyone can conveniently access and use in their daily lives.”
