The ‘100 Won Great Love’ sharing event, a welfare project representing Dong-gu, Daegu, was held at the Daegu Dong-gu Office on the 1st.
This event, which involves steadily collecting and donating 100-won coins that have been sleeping in pockets or drawers every day, has been ongoing for 9 years.
The '100 Won's Great Love' sharing event, a representative welfare project of Dong-gu, Daegu, is being held at the Dong-gu Office in Daegu.
At the event, public officials, residents, traditional market merchant associations, and various committees and volunteer groups attended to deliver warm compassion for the underprivileged.
The ‘100 Won Great Love’ started in 2015 and has raised 390 million won over 8 years. Through the ‘Happy Dong-gu Hope Dream Project,’ the funds are used for 13 welfare project areas, including housing costs, heating expenses, medical expenses for low-income and marginalized groups in Dong-gu, youth education expenses, and support for school supplies for new students.
Yoon Seok-jun, head of Daegu Dong-gu Office, said, “Despite the prolonged high-interest rate environment and economic downturn making it a difficult time for everyone, I would like to express my gratitude to the residents who sincerely joined the event by gathering their hearts.” He added, “We will use the ‘100 Won Great Love,’ which has firmly established itself as Dong-gu’s representative sharing culture, to create a warm community and seamless welfare projects.”
