Recipient of the 'Dahamnke Health Nuri Award'
Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, was selected as an outstanding case at the ‘2023 Gyeongbuk Province Healthy Village Creation Project Performance Conference’ held at Lahan Select Hotel in Gyeongju on the 28th, receiving the ‘Together Healthy Nuri Award.’
Members of the Byeonggok-myeon Healthy Village Health Committee and staff from the Yeongdeok-gun Health Management Department's Health Management Team are celebrating the selection of an outstanding case.
The Healthy Village Creation Project is a program aimed at reducing health disparities between regions and improving residents' health levels by encouraging residents to actively participate, achieve self-reliance in healthy villages, and enhance health equity.
Yeongdeok-gun initiated this project targeting Byeonggok-myeon in 2019, and except for the suspension due to COVID-19, the project has been ongoing for three years this year.
Accordingly, centered on the Yeongdeok-gun Public Health Center, the project promoted ▲resident health improvement through walking clubs ▲enhancement of self-efficacy via upcycling programs ▲self-development and cultural capacity strengthening through resident artwork exhibitions ▲community strengthening and regional cultural revitalization through ‘Ssedamdalligi’ in cooperation with the Yeongdeok Culture and Tourism Foundation.
These initiatives were highly evaluated for being resident-led, forming a virtuous cycle, and establishing a sustainable operational system strategy.
In particular, the Yeongdeok-gun Public Health Center was selected as an outstanding case under the theme ‘Virtuous Cycle of the Byeonggok-myeon Walking Club’ at this performance conference. Health committee members Kim Jeongyeop and Kim Okhan, who actively cooperated in promoting the Healthy Village Creation Project including the walking club operation, were recognized for their contributions to improving residents' health and received awards from the governor and the support team leader.
Gong Jaeyong, Director of the Health Management Division, said, “Being selected as an outstanding healthy village case is highly meaningful as it is the result of continuously developing and promoting resident-led projects. We will do our best to ensure that the Healthy Village Creation Project progresses more actively through residents’ enthusiastic participation and practice.”
