Yeongdeok-gun Selected as an Excellent Institution for Public Sewer Operation and Management by the Ministry of Environment

Two Consecutive Years of Awards, Demonstrating Sewer Management Capability

Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, was selected as an excellent institution in the 2023 Public Sewer Operation and Management Inspection conducted by the Ministry of Environment, and received the Minister of Environment Award at the awards ceremony held on the 30th at Booyoung Hotel & Resort in Seogwipo, Jeju Island, thus earning the honor for the second consecutive year following last year.

The public sewer evaluation is conducted annually to inspect the operation and management status of public sewer management authorities in order to establish a competitive sewer system and improve the efficiency of operation and management.

This year, evaluations were conducted on 38 items across four categories, including common areas and operation/management areas, targeting 161 local governments nationwide. In this process, Yeongdeok-gun and the public sewage treatment facility management agency, Ecobit Water, received high evaluations for their excellent operation of public sewage treatment facilities and strict compliance with water quality standards for discharged water, leading to this achievement.

County Governor Kim Gwang-yeol stated, “We will not be satisfied with this award and will continue to improve facilities and discharged water quality in public sewer projects to provide residents with a pleasant living environment and protect the local environment.”
