Performance in Inheritance and Membership Rights Unreported Comprehensive Survey
Ministry of Environment Wins 'Development Award' in Public Sewerage Evaluation
On the 1st, Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it was selected as the first place (highest excellence) among local governments in Group 2 in the 'Comprehensive Local Tax Policy Implementation Evaluation' conducted by Gyeonggi Province this year.
This evaluation was initiated by Gyeonggi Province in May to encourage healthy competition among local governments and ensure stable financial management, as difficulties in achieving local tax revenue targets were anticipated due to the real estate market downturn and reductions in official assessed property values.
Anseong City explained that it received a favorable evaluation by conducting special investigations in various sectors to uncover hidden tax sources, including a comprehensive survey of unreported inheritance and membership rights data, a comprehensive survey of tax-exempt and reduced data for agricultural corporations, and a comprehensive survey of tax-exempt and reduced data for industrial complexes, resulting in high additional tax collection performance.
A city official stated, "Despite the challenging revenue environment, we were able to achieve good results thanks to the efforts of our staff to secure tax revenue and the sincere tax payments of our citizens," adding, "We will continue to strive for fair and rational tax administration through thorough tax source management."
Meanwhile, Anseong City was also selected as an excellent institution and received a development award in this year's 'Public Sewerage Operation and Management Performance Evaluation' conducted by the Ministry of Environment.
The Ministry of Environment conducts this evaluation annually to improve the efficiency of public sewerage operation and management and to encourage healthy competition among local governments to enhance the quality of public sewerage services. The Ministry evaluated 161 local governments nationwide based on 38 criteria, including sewer safety management response capability, sewer pipeline maintenance and management, reuse rate of treated sewage, and carbon neutrality practices.
The city explained that it received the development award in recognition of its efforts to improve evaluation scores for three consecutive years and to establish a competitive sewerage system.
Jo Tae-wan, head of the Sewerage Division of Anseong City, said, "We will promptly improve any shortcomings identified through this evaluation and strive to enhance the efficiency of operation and management."
