On December 1st at 8 a.m., Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk, held a relay campaign at the Yeongyang Registry Office intersection with the Yeongyang-gun District Council of the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Society to support the attraction of a pumped-storage power plant in Yeongyang-gun.
The Korean Red Cross Yeongyang County District Council participated in the relay campaign to support the establishment of a pumped-storage power plant on December 1.
The attraction of the pumped-storage power plant is a sustainable project for Yeongyang's future, with a total project cost of 2 trillion KRW, a construction period of 14 years, and operation for 60 years thereafter. It is evaluated as a definite solution to the local extinction problem, as well as revitalizing the local economy through population inflow, new job creation, and securing tourism resources.
On this day, members of the Yeongyang-gun Council of the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Society, including Chairperson Park Jeong-suk, participated in the relay campaign expressing their wishes for the attraction of the Yeongyang pumped-storage power plant, lending their support to the project.
Chairperson Park Jeong-suk said, “Not only for the attraction of the pumped-storage power plant but also for the development of Yeongyang-gun, the Yeongyang-gun District Council of the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Society will participate whenever there is something we can help with.”
Governor Oh Do-chang said, “I am grateful to the Yeongyang-gun District Council of the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Society for their support in attracting the pumped-storage power plant,” adding, “I hope you will continue to work hard in various Red Cross humanitarian activities and strengthening the capabilities of Red Cross volunteers, as well as in attracting the pumped-storage power plant.”
