Imsil-gun, Wang-ui-sup Seongsusan National Leisure Camping Site 'Popular'

Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, is gaining popularity among campers at Seongsusan Wangui Forest National Leisure Camping Site, which opened on October 20 and is now in its second month.


According to the county on the 1st, Wangui Forest Camping Site is attracting attention as a camping destination thanks to its beautiful natural scenery and recent travel trends.

As of the 7th week of operation, about 2,000 people, including 512 teams from all over the country, have visited Wangui Forest Camping Site.


In mid-January next year, the ‘Jeonbuk Camping Club,’ which has about 23,000 members, plans to hold a regular camping event at Wangui Forest Camping Site with 22 teams and about 100 people.


Located at 55 Seongsu-ri, Seongsu-myeon, Imsil-gun, Wangui Forest National Leisure Camping Site consists of an auto camping area (14 sites), caravans (6 units), and cabin houses (4 units).


Created to establish a wholesome leisure and relaxation culture for families, it allows visitors to enjoy camping in a pleasant natural environment without a heavy financial burden, gaining nationwide word-of-mouth popularity.


In particular, the caravans and cabin houses are equipped with basic supplies inside, so anyone can enjoy camping without equipment. The cabin houses are located in a cypress forest, providing an environment where visitors can fully experience nature, increasing satisfaction.


Nearby, there are convenience facilities such as a book cafe, a lawn plaza, and a forest playground, offering a variety of educational and recreational activities.


Hwang Jungha, CEO of Doosan Forestry Co., Ltd., which is entrusted with the operation of the camping site, said, “The beautiful natural scenery and various family-oriented attractions seem to have earned favor among campers,” adding, “We recently completed registration as a forest interpretation business and plan to provide more diverse educational and beneficial experiences to campers in connection with Sangiam tourism in the future.”


County Governor Shim Min said, “Seongsusan, known as the sacred King’s Forest, holds a legend that King Goryeo Wang Geon and King Joseon Yi Seong-gye prayed here to become kings,” and added, “The newly established camping site here is gaining popularity along with its historical, educational, and cultural values, and will become a representative tourist destination of Imsil together with Okjeongho Lake, Imsil Cheese Theme Park, Osu Uigyeon Tourist Site, and Gwanchon Saseondae.”


Meanwhile, reservations for the camping site can be made on the website, and usage hours are from 2 p.m. to 11 a.m. the next day.
