Songpa-gu Takes Action to Prevent Fires in Large Logistics Complexes

Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that it signed a business agreement on November 30 with Songpa Fire Station and Seoul Complex Logistics Asset Management Co., Ltd. at the Seoul Complex Logistics Complex to prevent warehouse fires and minimize damage during the winter season.

Seoul Complex Logistics Asset Management Co., Ltd., located at 647 Jangji-dong, Songpa-gu, is a large logistics warehouse with a total floor area of 399,724.98㎡, about 1.5 times the size of a comprehensive stadium, housing 1,351 resident personnel and accommodating 13,000 people. As the only existing urban logistics complex, it accounts for 35% of Seoul's cargo volume and plays a key role in logistics in the southeastern region of Seoul.

In particular, this business agreement was promoted to establish effective measures to prevent fires in logistics warehouses located in the district following the warehouse fire that occurred in Icheon last year.

The main contents include ▲ efforts to improve facilities to ensure fire safety in logistics warehouses ▲ joint inspections for fire prevention ▲ support for education and training.

The signing ceremony was held with the participation of Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, Jang Man-seok, Chief of Songpa Fire Station, Seo Byung-gon, CEO of Seoul Complex Logistics Asset Management, Choi Jin-woo, Co-CEO of Seoul Complex Logistics Asset Management, and about 20 related personnel.

Following the ceremony, they visited the disaster prevention room, cold storage, and ambient temperature center within the logistics complex to inspect the logistics center site. Through the on-site inspection, they checked fire prevention facilities and urged to strengthen management supervision and responsibilities and duties for preventing large-scale fires in large logistics centers.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “Through this agreement, we will prevent warehouse fires in advance by making on-site improvement efforts for workplaces and raising safety awareness among workers.” He added, “We will continue to prioritize protecting the lives and property of residents, and through mutual cooperation among institutions in the event of disasters, we will make every effort to ensure that Songpa-gu is safe from fires through prompt initial response.”
