According to the MFDS on the 30th of last month, sterilizer 'tricyclazole' was detected at levels exceeding the standard in frozen red chili peppers imported by company H located in Chilgok-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and repackaged and sold by company C. As a result, the sale of the product has been suspended and a recall has been issued.

Tricyclazole is a fungicide mainly used in rice cultivation. The standard limit is '0.01 mg/kg or less,' but the product was found to contain '0.14 mg/kg.' The packaging units of the product are ▲200g ▲500g ▲1kg ▲20kg, and the packaging date is December 15 of last year.

The MFDS urged consumers who purchased the product to stop consumption immediately and return it to the place of purchase.

Previously, in August, tricyclazole levels exceeding the standard were also detected in Vietnamese chili peppers sold on the market. Frozen chili peppers imported by company N in Saha-gu, Busan, with a consumption deadline of April 10, 2024, were also fully recalled by the MFDS.
