DRAM and NAND Prices Rise for Two Consecutive Months... Memory Industry Sees Impact of Production Cuts

DRAM Exchange Price Survey Announcement
Both DRAM and NAND Continue Upward Trend
Price Increase and Market Recovery Expected Next Year

As the memory semiconductor industry's production cut efforts take effect in the market, prices of DRAM and NAND flash have risen for two consecutive months.

Market research firm DRAMeXchange announced on the 1st that the fixed transaction price of general-purpose PC DRAM products (DDR4 8Gb 1Gx8) last month rose 3.33% from the previous month to $1.55.

DRAM prices increased for the first time since July 2021 in October, rising 15.38% to $1.50. With prices rising for two consecutive months, the effect of production cuts in the memory industry is becoming visible.

Amid this recovery in the market, prices of the latest DDR5 DRAM products are also rising. Market research firm TrendForce forecasted, "DDR5 contract prices are expected to continue their upward trend in the first quarter of next year compared to the previous quarter."

The fixed transaction price of general-purpose NAND products for memory cards and USB (128Gb 16Gx8 MLC) last month was $4.09, up 5.41% from the previous month.

NAND prices also rose for the first time in two years and three months in October, increasing 1.59% to $3.88, similar to DRAM.

TrendForce predicted, "If suppliers continue production cuts and supply adjustments, NAND contract prices will keep rising throughout the first half of the year."

As memory prices follow an upward curve, industry expectations for semiconductor market recovery next year are growing. The World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization expects the memory market next year to expand to $129.768 billion, a 44.8% increase compared to this year.
