[Special Stock] Taesung Benefits as No.1 PCB Wet Process Equipment Amid Samsung and Apple AI Smartphone Launch Competition

Taesung is showing strength. It appears that the news of Samsung Electronics officially ushering in the so-called ‘on-device AI’ era, implementing artificial intelligence (AI) within devices starting next year, is influencing its stock price. Major global smartphone manufacturers are preparing smartphones equipped with AI technology. Samsung Electronics is moving quickly to secure market dominance by promoting an 'AI phone' ahead of the Galaxy S24 launch in January next year.

As of 1:40 PM on the 29th, Taesung is trading at 2,820 KRW, up 11.46% from the previous day.

Overseas IT media GalaxyClub reported that Samsung Electronics registered trademarks for 'AI smartphone' and 'AI phone' with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO) on the 24th (local time).

Another overseas IT media outlet, SamMobile, commented on the trademark registration, saying, "It is an indicator that AI will be the most highlighted word when the Galaxy S24 series is announced."

Alongside Samsung Electronics, Apple, the other major smartphone manufacturer, is also preparing to launch AI-equipped smartphones next year. Foreign media such as Bloomberg reported that Apple is considering providing generative AI in the new iPhone operating system (OS) iOS18. It is known that Apple is refining its own large language model (LLM) for this purpose.

On this day, Taesung stated that the activation of the on-device artificial intelligence (AI) market is expanding the backlog of orders as demand for high-performance premium substrates grows.

Taesung is a PCB process automation equipment company supplying high-performance PCB manufacturing equipment to top-tier global PCB manufacturers. As the number one domestic company in PCB wet process equipment, Taesung’s main products include etching, surface treatment equipment, and automation equipment within the wet process category.

According to the company, as demand for mobile semiconductors related to on-device AI increases, orders related to FCCSP, SiP, and MCP manufacturing equipment are also rising. The current order backlog already exceeds the total sales for the third quarter of this year and is expected to be reflected in next year’s sales through equipment supply.

Earlier this year, Taesung expanded its production facilities at the Ansan plant to respond to the increasing demand for high-performance semiconductor substrates related to AI. The expanded factory will actively respond to the growing orders.

Taesung’s major customers include Samsung Electro-Mechanics, LG Innotek, Daeduck Electronics, BH, Simtek, and TLB, and it continuously supplies equipment to world-renowned PCB manufacturers such as Pengding (formerly ZDT) and Sunnancircuit (SCC), the global leaders in the PCB industry.

A Taesung representative explained, "As the on-device AI market expands, equipment investments by major domestic and international global PCB manufacturing companies, our key customers, are increasing. We will further solidify our position as the number one company in high-performance PCB automation equipment based on our unique technological capabilities."

Taesung is known as a key supplier to Pengding (formerly ZDT), Foxconn’s PCB subsidiary and an official Apple supplier, and is mentioned as a beneficiary of Foxconn’s de-China strategy through investments in India. Pengding produces PCBs using Taesung’s equipment and supplies them to Apple and Foxconn.
