Sandangong, Carbon Emission Reduction through Installation of Self-Consumption Solar Power Facilities

Annual electricity cost of 200 million KRW, expected carbon emission reduction of 400 tons

The Korea Industrial Complex Corporation (Chairman Lee Sang-hoon) announced on the 29th that, in addition to the existing renewable energy facilities, it will install self-consumption solar power generation facilities on the rooftops and parking lots of its headquarters building and two regional headquarters (Gwangju, Jeonbuk).

The additional solar power generation facilities to be installed have a total capacity of 580 kW and produce 850 MWh of electricity annually. This is enough to supply electricity for about 230 households of four people for one year.

With this additional facility installation, the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation expects to save about 200 million KRW annually in electricity bills and achieve a reduction of 400 tons of carbon emissions per year.

As the lead agency for the government's Smart Green Industrial Complex project, the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation is also carrying out projects for industrial complex decarbonization such as smart energy platforms and energy self-sufficiency infrastructure, as well as providing carbon-neutral loan support for companies.

Lee Sang-hoon, Chairman of the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, said, "The installation of this solar power generation facility is highly meaningful in actively participating in carbon emission reduction as a public institution," and added, "We will continue our efforts to contribute to achieving carbon neutrality by strengthening ESG management in the future."
