Ecopro HN is partnering with the government to pursue international standardization of hazardous chemical substance analysis systems.
On the 29th, Ecopro HN announced that it has decided to promote international standardization of chemical filter performance measurement methods in collaboration with the Korea Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Ecopro HN was selected in April this year as a beneficiary of KATS’s international standardization support program for small and medium-sized enterprises and is currently receiving government consulting on international standardization.
Chemical filters are filters that remove hazardous chemical pollutants generated in semiconductor and display manufacturing processes. They are crucial for yield improvement. The core competitiveness lies in having a system that minimizes air loss passing through the filter while simultaneously filtering harmful gases densely. Developing materials suitable for specific gases and providing solutions is essential to capturing the market.
Ecopro HN began developing chemical filters in 2001 and succeeded in localization by starting to supply SK Hynix in 2005. Until the early 2000s, chemical filters were imported from Japan. Ecopro HN has also been supplying Samsung Electronics since 2009.

The chemical filter market size was 200 billion KRW as of the end of last year. During the same period, Ecopro HN’s chemical filter sales amounted to approximately 60 billion KRW, accounting for a 30% market share. Until now, there has been no objective standard on how to evaluate pressure loss and hazardous gas removal efficiency under what conditions, making it difficult to compare product performance.
Ecopro HN expects that standardizing performance evaluation methods will help objectively introduce the performance of chemical filters to external customers and contribute to market expansion.
Oh Gwanghae, Director of the Standards Policy Bureau at KATS, said, "We will review whether there are areas where we can provide policy support by deploying experts to achieve standardization of chemical filter performance."
Kim Jongseop, CEO of Ecopro HN, stated, "Through continuous technological development of chemical filters, we have achieved an import substitution effect exceeding 350 billion KRW so far," adding, "Standardization of analysis systems and management criteria will be an opportunity to target overseas markets."
