Jangseong-gun in Jeollanam-do attracted attention by showcasing excellent ingredients in the heart of Seoul.
The county announced on the 29th that it held a ‘Regional Win-Win Cooperation Gala Dinner’ event the day before at the HanCook Restaurant on the 3rd floor of the N Seoul Tower observatory in Namsan, together with CJ Foodville.

The gala dinner refers to a well-prepared evening banquet, and the event was attended by about 50 guests including Kim Han-jong, Jangseong County Governor, Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, Kim Chan-ho, CEO of CJ Foodville, as well as representatives from the food service industry and the media.
Maria Castillo Fernandez, Ambassador of the European Union to Korea, and Dagmar Schmitt Tartari, Ambassador of Switzerland to Korea, also attended.
The theme of the event was ‘Winter Preparation (越冬).’ Using more than 40 ingredients cultivated in Jangseong-gun, which boasts a pristine environment, including apples, native persimmons, bokbunja (Korean black raspberries), taro, perilla seeds, and mushrooms, a total of six-course menus were presented.
The dishes were prepared by Jeonggwan, a master of temple cuisine from Cheonjinam Temple at Baekyangsa. The event drew attention by showcasing vegan dishes, which have gained global interest since the COVID-19 pandemic.
This event was organized as part of the ‘Regional Win-Win Development Business Agreement’ signed between Jangseong-gun and CJ Foodville in May.
According to the agreement, CJ Foodville will promote the excellence of Jangseong ingredients not only at N Seoul Tower but also through its own SNS channels such as YouTube and Instagram.
They will also focus on developing products using Jangseong’s agricultural specialties such as apples and sprouted ginseng. Jangseong sprouted ginseng has already been used in CJ Foodville’s chicken kalguksu, and a Jangseong apple juice product is scheduled to be launched early next year.
Through this Seoul gala dinner event, it is evaluated that it served as an opportunity to promote high-quality Jangseong ingredients as well as to raise interest in Jangseong-gun’s vegan cuisine, represented by temple food.
If the successful momentum continues, it is expected to be recognized as an excellent case of win-win cooperation between rural areas facing difficulties such as climate change and labor shortages and large corporations.
Kim Chan-ho, CEO of CJ Foodville, said, “We will continue to move forward as a food service company that practices social responsibility.”
Governor Kim Han-jong said, “I hope the win-win project between Jangseong-gun and CJ Foodville will become an opportunity to promote the excellence of Namdo cuisine beyond Jangseong,” adding, “We will transform into ‘Gourmet City Jangseong’ by linking various projects such as the business agreement with CEO Baek Jong-won’s The Born Korea Co., Ltd. and the creation of five major food streets.”
