Creation of Data-Based Industrial Facilities in Dongjak-gu and Soongsil University

Signing of 'Business Agreement for Regional Industry Development and Social Innovation' Expected to Lay Foundation for District's Future Growth Engine -

Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Il-ha) and Soongsil University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the 28th to cooperate in creating data-driven industrial facilities for regional industrial development and social innovation.

They plan to establish future advanced industrial facilities within the university to create quality jobs and prepare future growth engines through the advancement of the industrial structure.

The basic directions include ▲establishing an Information and Communication Technology (ICT)-based education development center ▲attracting global companies related to data ▲creating a one-stop startup incubation space specialized in AI and data fields.

The district office will provide active administrative support from the early stages of the project in line with Soongsil University's human and material capabilities.

Soongsil University established the first IT college in Korea in 2005 and was selected as a ‘4th Industrial Revolution Innovation Leading University’ by the Ministry of Education in 2020.

Furthermore, the two institutions plan to jointly explore ways to secure local necessary facilities such as community spaces for residents and cultural and sports facilities as a public contribution from the project.

Park Il-ha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, said, “Through this agreement, we plan to strengthen the public-academic collaboration system for regional development,” adding, “We will continue to focus on fostering future industrial facilities so that Dongjak-gu can leap forward as a city leading the future.”
