Pullan ENG "Developing Digital Insulation Measuring Device Next Year... Promoting Production of Reinforced Double-Layer Vacuum Glass" Pulran ENG's Vacuum Glass

Glass specialist company Pullan ENG announced on the 28th that it will develop and commercialize a digital insulation measuring device next year and will promote the production of reinforced laminated vacuum glass for the first time in Korea.

Vacuum glass is glass bonded in a vacuum state between two sheets of glass. Unlike regular laminated glass, the space between the two sheets is in a complete vacuum, preventing energy transfer between the glass layers, which results in excellent insulation performance, external noise blocking, and condensation prevention effects.

The company recently invited Dr. Senk Koser, a senior researcher of the vacuum glass research group at the University of Sydney, Australia, to hear about the latest research, development, technology, and commercialization trends in vacuum glass. Dr. Koser has also interacted with key figures such as major construction companies, architects, insulating glass manufacturers, and academia. At an expert forum held at Pullan ENG’s headquarters in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province, Dr. Koser said, "Awareness of vacuum glass, which is already commercialized in the US, Japan, and China, is increasing in Korea as well," and added, "Due to its excellent performance and diverse applications, demand for vacuum glass is expected to surge starting in 2025 when the energy rating system will be implemented for all buildings in Korea." Dr. Koser has experience consulting for vacuum glass production at Japan’s NSG and Panasonic, as well as China’s Leaders.

Pullan ENG is conducting production process, equipment, and R&D for vacuum glass in collaboration with the University of Sydney and the Department of Materials Engineering at Gyeonggi University. Based on this, the company plans to first develop and commercialize a digital insulation measuring device next year. This device can measure the performance of vacuum glass. Previously, measurements had to be done with large equipment at factories, but Pullan ENG has reduced the size for on-site use and has filed a patent for it. Mass production of reinforced laminated vacuum glass is also expected to take place next year. Pullan ENG is currently producing reinforced vacuum glass samples. After production, performance verification and quality certification will be conducted, and full-scale production will begin next year.

Seo Dong-seok, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Pullan ENG, said, "Existing vacuum glass was too expensive and difficult to produce as tempered glass, but the product developed and to be produced by Pullan ENG will be affordable and can be manufactured as tempered glass, which will have a substitution effect in the construction market," adding, "It has high insulation performance and is lightweight, making installation easy."
