On the 28th, Aseasement announced that it will establish an SCR research facility for demonstration technology development by 2025, applying Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology?which can reduce over 90% of nitrogen oxides?for the first time in Korea to the cement process.

Aseasement has been conducting a national project for the development of core carbon-neutral technologies since April, led by the Korea Institute for Industrial Technology Evaluation and Planning under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. As part of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management, it is developing technology to reduce atmospheric pollutant emissions while using recycled resources such as waste synthetic resin as alternative fuel. The goal is to apply this technology in a demonstration phase within the actual cement manufacturing process.

An Aseasement official explained, “Through a technical agreement with an EU engineering company that developed SCR technology used in advanced cement plants in the EU region, we are promoting the demonstration of SCR technology suitable for the cement industry for the first time in Korea.”

SCR is known to be effective not only in removing nitrogen oxides generated during the cement manufacturing process but also various volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other pollutants.

An Aseasement official stated, “Through active research and development and investment in research facilities, we expect to contribute to securing technology for reducing carbon emissions and atmospheric pollutants in the cement industry, which is a national task.”
