Gyeongnam Information University (President Kim Dae-sik) completed the remodeling of Jeongnam Senior Center located in Hakjang-dong, Sasang-gu, and held an opening ceremony on the 27th.
This remodeling project is the second one following the renovation of Ilsin Senior Center earlier this year, as part of the High Vocational Education Hub District (HiVE) project conducted in collaboration with the Sasang-gu Office of Busan City.
About 130 local residents attended the opening ceremony, including Jang Je-won, Chairman of the National Assembly Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting Committee and local district member of the National Assembly; Jo Byeong-gil, Mayor of Sasang-gu; Kim Dae-sik, President of Gyeongnam Information University; and Yoon Sook-hee, Chairperson of the Sasang-gu Council.
Jeongnam Senior Center, which opened in 1998, had frequent complaints from local residents due to aging facilities, but as it was designated as private property, it faced difficulties in receiving financial support from the basic local government.
The Gyeongnam Information University HiVE project team and Sasang-gu invested about 50 million won to complete the remodeling, including LED lighting, indoor and outdoor electrical work, repairs to the living room and entrance, and reconstruction of the restroom.
President Kim Dae-sik of Gyeongnam Information University said, “It is time to fulfill our social responsibility to the residents of Sasang-gu who have generously supported Gyeongnam Information University,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to resolve local issues together with the community and play a significant role in the future.”
