2023 Dongdaemun-gu Children's Council Plenary Session Held

Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced on the 25th that the "2023 5th Dongdaemun-gu Children's Council General Assembly" was held at the Dongdaemun-gu Council chamber.

Hosted by the Dongdaemun-gu Children's Council and organized by the Dongdaemun Youth Center, this general assembly began with the opening address and keynote speech by the Children's Council chairperson, followed by reports on annual activities, review and reporting of agenda items by standing committees, and resolution of agenda items.

At the event, Dongdaemun-gu Council Chairperson Lee Tae-in and Vice Chairperson Jeong Seong-young attended and offered words of encouragement and support for children and youth.

During this general assembly, six agenda items that won awards at the "Children and Youth Policy Proposal Contest" held on the 11th were discussed: ▲The necessity of financial and economic education for adolescents ▲Creation of an official website for external activities ▲Improvement of the aging information room ▲Strengthening regulations on shared electric kickboards ▲A safe society with no school zone accidents ▲Please open schools to youth. After discussion, five of these agenda items were approved, excluding the "Creation of an official website for external activities."

The district plans to request relevant departments to review the approved agenda items to ensure they are practically reflected in policies.

A district official stated, "We will strive to incorporate the ideas approved at this general assembly into policies, and we will continue to generously support various experiences and activities so that children and youth can envision a happy future."

The 5th Dongdaemun-gu Children's Council has been continuing activities to improve the rights and gather opinions of children and youth, including forming standing committees after the inauguration ceremony in April and holding the policy proposal contest on the 11th of this month.
