Enjoy a 'Phytoncide Shower' at Yangcheon-gu Glass Greenhouse... Ecospace Yeonui to Operate from Next Month

Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that from next month until February of next year, the ecological learning center 'Eco Space Yeonui' glass greenhouse, which offers various nature and ecological experiences and cultural fusion programs throughout the year, will operate the 'Forest of Senses, Phytoncide Garden' where visitors can experience rest and meditation.

The 'Forest of Senses' is a glass greenhouse that maintains a temperature above 20 degrees Celsius even in the middle of winter, allowing visitors to enjoy warmth and the vitality of nature. It features an open pyramid-shaped structure.

The district has newly renovated this place into a 'Phytoncide Garden' by planting additional species such as Blue Ice, Selrea, and cypress chips, which emit more phytoncides than cypress trees, allowing visitors to enjoy a 'phytoncide shower' while basking in the sunlight. Phytoncides, known as the so-called 'green tonic,' are protective substances secreted by plants that are known to boost immunity and provide psychological stability. On one side of the greenhouse, a Christmas tree and photo zone have been set up so visitors can enjoy the year-end and New Year atmosphere.

Additionally, the district has prepared programs including ecological learning center facility tours, lotus leaf tea ceremonies, meditation, and phytoncide shower experiences for seniors who find outdoor activities difficult during winter. From next month until February of next year, every Thursday at 2 p.m., visitors to the 'Forest of Senses, Phytoncide Garden' can participate in healing programs provided by 'Eco Friends,' ecological environment expert volunteers of Yangcheon-gu.

The 'Forest of Senses, Phytoncide Garden' is open to everyone except on closed days from next month until February of next year. Seniors interested in the experience programs can make reservations in advance through the district office website, by phone, or in person.

Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, "This program, where you can experience the scent and warmth of the forest and meditation, provides comfortable rest for the body and mind weakened by the cold winter, so we hope many residents will show interest and visit."
