The movie 'Seoul Spring' is based on the true story of the December 12, 1979, coup by the new military forces in the capital city of Seoul. It depicts the story of Jeon Du-gwang (played by Hwang Jung-min), the security commander of the new military forces, and Lee Tae-shin (played by Jung Woo-sung), the capital security commander who stood in opposition to him.
According to the Korea Film Council's integrated box office data as of the 27th, 'Seoul Spring' attracted 1,494,169 viewers nationwide from the 24th to the 26th, securing first place at the weekend box office. The cumulative audience count reached 1,892,703.
Released on the 22nd, 'Seoul Spring' had a strong start with 200,000 viewers on its first day and maintained an upward trend through the weekend. It drew 1.49 million viewers over the three-day weekend and recorded nearly 2 million cumulative viewers in its opening week.
This figure surpasses the opening week cumulative audience of 1.72 million for the movie 'Mil-su' (2023), which attracted a total of 5.14 million viewers this summer, making it the highest opening week score among this year’s releases after 'Crime City 3.'
