Gangdong-gu Joint Campaign Against Harmful Environments for Youth After College Entrance Exam Completion

Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Soo-hee) conducted a joint public-private-police campaign against harmful environments for youth on the 23rd, focusing on the area around Cheonho-dong Rodeo Street and the Jjukkumi Alley in Seongnae-dong after the college entrance exam.

This campaign was promoted to prevent delinquent and deviant behaviors of youth whose tension had eased after the exam, and to protect them from harmful environments such as alcohol and tobacco.

In particular, not only the district office and police station but also local residents participated, joining forces to raise awareness about improving harmful environments for youth and to voluntarily protect young people, creating a safe environment for them.

About 120 people participated in this campaign, including ▲Gangdong-gu Office Child and Youth Division ▲Gangdong Police Station Women and Youth Division ▲Gangdong-gu Youth Harmful Environment Monitoring Group (Korea Youth Development Association Gangdong Branch, Marine Corps Veterans Association Gangdong Branch) ▲Residents and group members of Myeongil 1-dong, Cheonho 2-dong, and Cheonho 3-dong ▲Gangdong-gu Youth Facility Coalition (Cheonho Youth Culture House, Dunchon Youth Culture House, Gangdong Girls’ Short-term Youth Shelter, Gangdong Counseling Welfare Center, Gangdong Youth Support Center, Gangdong Municipal Youth Center).

On the day, participants divided into groups by activity zones, distributing leaflets related to youth protection and conducting inspections of harmful environments and youth protection campaigns around Cheonho-dong Rodeo Street and Seongnae-dong Jjukkumi Alley.

Lee Soo-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, “As the year-end and New Year approach after the college entrance exam, this is a time when youth are easily exposed to harmful environments, so I hope this joint campaign will greatly help prevent youth delinquency. We will continue to do our best to ensure that young people grow up properly as healthy members of our society.”
