Seoul City Adds Pedestrian Crosswalk at Gangnam Station Central Bus Stop

From now on, passengers getting off at the Gangnam Station Central Bus Stop will be able to transfer directly to the subway from both directions. Seoul City announced on the 28th that it has added a crosswalk behind the congested Gangnam Station Central Bus Stop, where there are many bus users and pedestrians, and opened it on the 25th.

Considering the large number of bus routes (35 routes) stopping at the Gangnam Station (Line 2) central stop located on Gangnam-daero, the city completed construction to extend the platforms in both directions and install new crosswalks. With the addition of two crosswalks connected to the central stop, the distance from the stop to the subway entrance has been reduced by up to 210 meters (from 360m to 150m), and the transfer distance to the roadside stop (express buses) has also been shortened by up to 160 meters (from 200m to 40m), greatly improving convenience for public transportation users near Gangnam Station.

Meanwhile, this project was selected as the first project in a contest conducted for city officials to resolve daily citizen inconveniences. The city plans to analyze the effects and improvements of this pilot project and consider expanding it to other stops with high passenger volume and frequent transfers.

Yoon Jong-jang, Director of Urban Transportation at Seoul City, stated, “This project is an example of listening once again to citizens’ voices and actively finding and implementing improvement measures.” He added, “We will continue to observe inconveniences from the citizens’ perspective and pursue proactive administration closely connected to daily life.”
