Composer Jung Da-eun (31, female), a former broadcaster who was under a pre-investigation (internal inquiry) by the police related to a drug case involving actor Lee Seon-gyun (48) and others, has been transferred to the prosecution as a suspect.
The Narcotics Crime Investigation Division of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 27th that composer Jung was booked without detention on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act and recently sent to the prosecution. Jung is reportedly accused of using drugs and buying and selling marijuana. Additionally, the police stated that a 29-year-old entertainment establishment manager, who was arrested on the 21st of last month, was also sent to the prosecution.
Jung, who has four prior convictions, was sentenced to prison for drug use in 2016 and 2021 and served time in prison. She is currently under police investigation while detained on charges of methamphetamine use.
Currently, the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency is investigating or conducting internal inquiries into a total of 10 individuals on suspicion of drug use, including actor Lee and singer G-Dragon (35, real name Kwon Ji-yong).
An internal inquiry is a procedure to determine whether a formal investigation is warranted before an official investigation begins. Initially, five individuals were booked as suspects, but the number increased to seven as Jung and a female entertainment establishment worker in her 20s, who were under internal inquiry, were added as suspects.
Among the seven, only the arrested entertainment establishment manager has been indicted, and a current doctor operating a clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, who is suspected of supplying drugs, is scheduled to undergo a pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant hearing) this afternoon.
A police official said, "There are currently seven individuals booked in connection with this case, and the remaining three are still under internal inquiry," adding, "We cannot disclose specific details of the charges at this time."
