Former People Power Party Innovation Committee Chairman In Yo-han, who previously had a conflict with former leader Lee Jun-seok over a 'racial discrimination' controversy, referred to Lee as 'Junseok-i' during a lecture for party members, saying "He has no morals; it’s not Lee’s fault but his parents’ fault." In response, Lee Jun-seok snapped back, asking, "Where did you learn that?" Members of Lee’s faction also chimed in, calling In a 'kkondae' (old-fashioned authoritarian).
On the 27th, Lee Jun-seok said on SBS's "Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show," "At the age of forty, having served as party leader, to be called 'Junseok' at a party event?I don’t know where they learned that." He added, "In my 12 years in politics, I have had many debates and sharp conversations involving parents, but I have never seen anyone drag their parents into insults."
It was reported that In Yo-han, at a People Power Party youth and member innovation training event held the previous day in Taean County, Chungnam Province, said, "Through Korea’s ondol floor culture and the warm seat education, one learns knowledge, wisdom, and morals, but Junseok has no morals," adding, "That is not Junseok’s fault but largely his parents’ fault." In response, Lee Jun-seok fired back on social media, "Is insulting parents innovation?" The term 'paedeurip' is a portmanteau of 'paeryun' (filial impiety) and 'drip' (slang for joke), referring to offensive remarks targeting parents or family.
Members of Lee Jun-seok’s faction also criticized In Yo-han. Former People Power Party Innovation Committee member Cheon Ha-ram said on CBS's "Kim Hyun-jung's Political Show," "In the political arena, especially in front of party members publicly, to insult parents like this is completely crossing the line," pointing out, "He could have just criticized the person himself, but he dragged the parents into it."
He continued, "Although Lee is relatively young in politics, he will turn forty in a month," adding, "He is a significant political figure who even served as the former party leader of the People Power Party, so saying 'Junseok has no morals, it seems his parents raised him poorly' is a very disrespectful, kkondae-like remark. That’s how I see it."
People Power Party lawmaker Heo Eun-ah also criticized on MBC's "Kim Jong-bae’s Focus," saying, "It seems he is completely unaware," and questioned, "Nowadays, people’s mothers and fathers are from Generation X and Y, so is it right to lecture them like this?" Heo said, "This (In Yo-han’s remark) is the epitome of kkondae, and when we recruited talent to our party, one of the requests was to eliminate our kkondae image," adding, "If you look at people nowadays through the lens of the old days when they talked about the warm seat and overstepping boundaries and the king’s words, our party really has no future." Former deputy spokesperson Shin In-kyu also shared the article on his social media, saying, "In Yo-han’s resignation is imminent. He should never set foot in politics again."
Senior party member and Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo also wrote on social media that day, "Lee Jun-seok is not rude but audacious," adding, "It reminds me of former leader Yoo Jin-san, who disparaged the two Kims with the phrase 'Gusangyuchi' (口尙乳臭, meaning 'still smelling of milk from the mouth')."
