Search and Seizure of Residence and Office of Kwak Jeong-gi, Former Head of Seoul Cheong Intelligent Crime Investigation Unit

The prosecution has launched a search and seizure operation targeting former high-ranking prosecutors and police officials in connection with the cover-up of the Baekhyeon-dong case investigation.

On the 27th, the Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 3 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Yong-sik) is conducting a search and seizure at the residences of Im Jeong-hyeok, former head of the Judicial Research and Training Institute, and Gwak Jeong-gi, former head of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Intelligent Crime Investigation Unit.

The prosecution is reported to have initiated the search and seizure in relation to the case of Lee Dong-gyu, former chairman of KH Development, who was arrested and indicted on charges of accepting approximately 1.3 billion KRW in bribes (under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes) by approaching Jeong Ba-ul, CEO of Asia Developer, who was under investigation for corruption in the Baekhyeon-dong development case, promising to block police and prosecution investigations and the issuance of an arrest warrant by the court.
