Busan Haeundae-gap 3-term Lawmaker
First Among Ruling Party's Yeongnam Veterans to Officially Announce Candidacy in a Challenging District
Ha Tae-kyung, a member of the People Power Party, declared on the 27th that he will run for the Jongno district in next year's general election. Ha, who served three terms representing Haeundae Gap in Busan, is the first senior figure from the ruling party's stronghold in the Yeongnam region to declare a candidacy in a challenging district.
At a press conference held at the National Assembly on the same day, Ha stated, "Jongno is a place our party must absolutely defend, and without holding Jongno, we cannot be called a metropolitan party," adding, "The primary condition for winning the metropolitan area in the general election is to hold Jongno. I will proudly raise the flag in Jongno and become the driving force behind our party's victory in the metropolitan area."
Last month, Ha declared, "I will leave my hometown Haeundae and challenge Seoul to become a catalyst for the party's victory in the general election and the metropolitan area."
