Gyeongnam University Weightlifting Team's Athlete Kim Jahyun Sets New Competition Record with 91kg Clean and Jerk

Won 22 Medals at the '20th National Spring University Weightlifting Championships'

The Kyungnam University Weightlifting Team recently won 7 gold medals, 11 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals at the '20th National Spring University Weightlifting Championships' held in Seocheon-gun, Chungnam.

First, Kim Jahyun (1st year, Department of Physical Education), competing in the -81kg category, and Lee Hyungmin (4th year, Department of Sports Science), competing in the -109kg category, each took 1st place in snatch, clean and jerk, and total, lifting the golden barbell. In particular, Kim Jahyun set a new tournament record by lifting 91kg in the snatch, 1kg more than the previous 90kg.

Next, Kim Dongwook (2nd year, Department of Physical Education), competing in the -96kg category, won 3rd place in snatch and total, and 1st place in clean and jerk, earning 1 gold medal and 2 bronze medals. Ha Youngsoo (3rd year, Department of Sports Science), competing in the -81kg category, and Yoo Dongsung (2nd year, Department of Sports Science), competing in the -102kg category, each took 2nd place in snatch, clean and jerk, and total, earning silver medals.

Kang Chaeyeon (2nd year, Department of Sports Science), competing in the -71kg category, and Choi Seunghyun (2nd year, Department of Physical Education), competing in the -89kg category, won 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal respectively by placing 2nd in snatch and total, and 3rd in clean and jerk. Park Yein (3rd year, Department of Physical Education), competing in the -71kg category, earned 1 silver medal by placing 2nd in clean and jerk.

Thus, at this tournament hosted and organized by the Korea Corporate Weightlifting Federation, Chungnam Weightlifting Federation, and Seocheon-gun Weightlifting Federation, and supported by Seocheon-gun and the Seocheon-gun Sports Council, Kyungnam University achieved a remarkable feat by winning a total of 22 medals and setting 1 new tournament record.
