Wando County Office Weightlifting Team Shines with 9 Medals at National Competition

Player Iyangjae Wins 'Most Valuable Player Award', Coach Seo Hocheol Receives 'Best Coach Award'

The weightlifting professional team of the Wando County Office in Jeollanam-do won 6 gold medals and 3 bronze medals at the '2023 National Professional Weightlifting Championships' held from the 20th to the 23rd at the Seocheon County Gymnasium in Chungnam.

According to the county on the 27th, Kim Dong-min, who competed in the men's general 61kg category, lifted 115kg in the snatch, 150kg in the clean and jerk, with a total of 265kg, winning 3 gold medals. Lee Yang-jae, who competed in the +109kg category, lifted 180kg in the snatch, 233kg in the clean and jerk, with a total of 413kg, earning 3 gold medals.

Lee Yang-jae, who won 3 gold medals, was also awarded the Most Valuable Player award.

Lim Jeong-hee, who competed in the women's general +87kg category, lifted 80kg in the snatch, 100kg in the clean and jerk, with a total of 180kg, winning 3 bronze medals. Kang Min-woo in the 81kg category unfortunately withdrew due to a shoulder injury.

Coach Seo Ho-cheol was honored with the Best Coach award.

Coach Seo Ho-cheol said, "I am pleased to finish with good results by winning many medals and receiving major awards at this year's final competition," adding, "I thank Wando County for their unwavering support and interest in the weightlifting professional team, and we will continue to repay with good results."

Meanwhile, the Wando County Office weightlifting professional team has participated in 5 competitions this year alone, showcasing their strength by winning a total of 40 medals: 27 gold, 4 silver, and 9 bronze.
