An Byeong-su, the Planning Officer for Narcotics and Organized Crime at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office (age 50, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 32), has been appointed as the acting Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, leading the investigation team conducting the probe surrounding Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea.

On the 27th, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office appointed An as the acting Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, a position that had been vacant. The Deputy Chief Prosecutor position became vacant after Lee Jeong-seop, the former Deputy Chief Prosecutor, was assigned to the Daejeon High Prosecutors' Office. Lee is currently under investigation by the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on charges including violation of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act and abuse of authority.

An has served as a Deputy Chief Prosecutor at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, Chief of the Namwon Branch of the Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office, Deputy Chief Prosecutor at the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office, Head of the Inspection Division 2 at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, Chief Prosecutor at the Busan District Prosecutors' Office, and Deputy Chief Prosecutor at the Goyang Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court. In September of this year, he began working as the Planning Officer for Narcotics and Organized Crime at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office. An previously worked as a prosecutor in the Special Investigation Division 1 at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office under the command of Prosecutor General Lee Won-seok, who was then the head of that division.

Currently, under the Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, investigations are ongoing into allegations related to Lee Hwa-young, former Deputy Governor for Peace of Gyeonggi Province; allegations of misuse of corporate credit cards by the spouse of Lee Jae-myung during his tenure as Governor of Gyeonggi Province; and various corruption allegations involving the Ssangbangwool Group.

Since the Deputy Chief Prosecutor position became vacant, Kang Seong-yong, the Chief Deputy Prosecutor of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, has been acting concurrently as Deputy Chief Prosecutor. However, managing the investigation team under the Deputy Chief Prosecutor while serving as Chief Deputy Prosecutor was burdensome, so it is reported that the appointment of An as acting Deputy Chief Prosecutor was made promptly in an acting capacity.
