Dobong-gu Completes Maintenance of Uicheon Embankment Path... Resident Feedback Heard Before Completion on 24th
Uicheon Embankment Path (Changbeon Bridge to Sinchang Bridge) Expanded from 1.5m to 4-6m Width
Lighting Installed on Pedestrian Safety Railings to Ensure Nighttime Walking Safety
Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that it has completed the maintenance work on the embankment path along the Uicheon Stream and conducted an on-site inspection with residents on the 24th.
The inspection was carried out to identify any shortcomings before the completion of the project and to actively gather residents' opinions on-site.
The inspection was attended by Oh Eon-seok, the mayor of Dobong-gu, along with heads of related departments and staff, and proceeded on foot along the maintenance area from Changbeon Bridge to Sinchang Bridge.
Mayor Oh promised to reflect the residents' request for pruning the acacia trees on both sides, which was made during the inspection. He also confirmed that there were insufficient resting places for the elderly and others to sit and instructed the relevant department to install additional resting chairs.
The maintenance project on the Uicheon embankment path began from a dialogue with residents in July last year. Responding to residents' concerns about the narrow pedestrian path and the danger posed by passing vehicles, the district secured 1 billion KRW in city funds through consultation with Seoul City, started the detailed design service in November last year, and completed the construction in November this year.
The width of the embankment pedestrian path was significantly expanded from the existing 1.5m to 4-6m, separating sidewalks from roadways and installing safety railings to ensure pedestrian safety. Additionally, lighting was installed on the safety railings to allow safe passage at night.
Mayor Oh Eon-seok of Dobong-gu said, “To enhance residents' convenience in using the stream, we will gradually maintain other embankment paths in the area,” and added, “We will continue to actively reflect residents' opinions to create a safe and pleasant environment for stream use.”
