The outstanding institution for testing and research LMO safety management is selected through expert evaluation among LMO-using institutions, hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and organized by the National Research Safety Management Project Headquarters of the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology.

Samsung Bioepis was recognized as an outstanding institution for ▲ compliance with LMO-related laws ▲ establishment and operation of LMO management systems ▲ establishment and operation of dedicated LMO storage facilities ▲ activation of safety culture.

Samsung Bioepis has established processes to manage LMO import/export and inventory to prevent omissions and regularly checks the status. It also operates a temperature monitoring system to maintain appropriate conditions and dedicated storage facilities for LMOs. Along with LMO management, the company is fostering a safety-first culture by strengthening safety inspections and promoting safety awareness activities for employees' working environment.

LMOs are widely used in fields such as food, medical care, and the environment. Since 2008, the government has managed related research facilities under the LMO Act to control potential risks of LMOs and protect biodiversity.

Kim Kyung-ah, Vice President and Head of Development at Samsung Bioepis, said, “We are very pleased to be recognized for creating an environment where employees can work safely. We will continue to do our best to establish a safe working environment.”
