Seodaemun-gu Human Rights Exhibition 'Human Rights Faced with Paper Cups'

Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seongheon) will hold the '2023 Seodaemun-gu Human Rights Exhibition and Human Rights Forum' on the 29th of this month at Seodaemun-gu Office.


The exhibition will take place in the lobby on the 1st floor of the main building (Nov. 29 ~ Dec. 6), and the Human Rights Forum (Nov. 29) will be held in the large conference room on the 3rd floor of the main building.


The theme of the exhibition is "Human Rights Faced Through Paper Cups," featuring a total of 15 pieces. Artist Kim Sumin, a Starbucks paper cup artist, will present works that capture the diversity of human rights.


The keywords of the works include connection, being treated as disposable, scenes on the way to work, bullying, forced overtime, sole responsibility for housework, proof of poverty, family composition rights, gaslighting, equitable distribution of human rights, wheelchair basketball, breaking the winner-takes-all structure, and support for single-person households. Anyone can visit and view the exhibition on-site during the exhibition period.


The Human Rights Forum will proceed in the following order: ▲Part 1: How to Prevent the Spread of Hate and Discrimination (Kim Tae-eun, Officer, Discrimination Correction Division, National Human Rights Commission) ▲Part 2: Establishing a Cooperation Network for Preventing Human Rights Violations (Kim Hyeongwan, Director, Human Rights Policy Research Institute) ▲Part 3: Human Rights Faced Through Paper Cups (Exhibition Artist Kim Sumin) ▲Part 4: Seodaemun Human Rights Status Focus: Violations in Single-Person Households and Adjacent Relationships (Jung Wankyu, Director, Policy Research Institute Ieum) ▲Comprehensive Discussion. The moderator will be Ryu Eunsuk, CEO of the Human Rights Research Institute 'Chang.'


Lee Seongheon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, "We hope many residents will participate in this exhibition and forum to spread human rights values and establish a cooperation network to prevent human rights violations."
