On the second day of the temporary ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian armed group Hamas on the 25th (local time), Israeli authorities announced that they would exchange 14 hostages held in the Gaza Strip for 42 Palestinian prisoners.
AFP news agency, citing Israeli officials, reported that following the release of 13 hostages the previous day, Hamas would release 14 hostages on this day. Accordingly, Israel plans to release 42 Palestinian prisoners.
The previous day, Hamas released a total of 24 hostages, including 13 Israeli nationals, 10 Thais, and 1 Filipino. Israel also released 39 Palestinian prisoners.
According to the ceasefire agreement, both sides plan to sequentially release the remaining hostages and prisoners by 7 a.m. on the 28th.
