The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that a strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 occurred in the Pacific Mariana Islands sea at 9:05 a.m. on the 24th (UTC, Coordinated Universal Time).
The epicenter was located at 20.31 degrees north latitude and 146.25 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 12.4 km.
Earlier, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) had reported the earthquake magnitude as 6.6.
No tsunami warning was issued as a result of this earthquake.
