Efforts to Promote the Value of Muan Gaetbeol Worldwide
Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) is promoting a residents' briefing session to advance the second phase expansion of the "Korean Tidal Flats" World Heritage registration.
According to the county on the 24th, the residents' briefing session held on the 23rd was attended by about 50 people, including the heads of villages from Unnam-myeon, the Korean Tidal Flats World Heritage Promotion Team, and officials from cities and counties. Previously, briefing sessions were completed on the 14th in Hyeongyeong-myeon and on the 22nd in Mangun-myeon.

Muan-gun possesses 151.6㎢ of tidal flats across three bays: Hampyeong Bay, Tando Bay, and Cheonggye Bay. Following the second phase expansion recommendation, residents' briefing sessions are being prioritized in four myeon (Hyeongyeong, Haeje, Mangun, Unnam) located around Hampyeong Bay and Tando Bay.
On the 29th, a residents' briefing session will be held in Haeje-myeon, where the importance of UNESCO World Heritage registration will be continuously promoted to fishing cooperatives and local residents.
Heo Jae-gyeong, head of the Muan Ecological Tidal Flat Project Office, stated, "By participating in the second phase expansion project of the Korean Tidal Flats World Heritage, we will strive to protect the marine environment, provide various support projects and conveniences to local residents, and promote the value of the Muan tidal flats worldwide." He added, "We ask for the interest and cooperation of local residents in this project."
