Ulleung-gun, Joint Public-Private Hygiene Inspection of 118 Lodging and Bathhouse Businesses to Prevent Bedbug Outbreaks

Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, conducted intensive bedbug control inspections on lodging and bathhouse businesses starting November 23 to prevent bedbug outbreaks and alleviate public anxiety.

Amid nationwide reports of bedbug sightings increasing concerns among residents and tourists using public hygiene facilities, Ulleung-gun plans to form joint inspection teams consisting of public officials and honorary public hygiene monitors to conduct on-site inspections of 118 lodging and bathhouse businesses at risk of bedbug outbreaks until December 8.

The main inspection items include ▲checking whether bedding is washed and the timing of replacement ▲inspecting for signs of bedbugs in various locations (bed headboards, mattresses, pillow seams, backs of picture frames, window sills, curtains, floor gaps, etc.) ▲and compliance with hygiene management standards within the facilities.

Additionally, the county will distribute the "Bedbug Information Booklet" and self-inspection checklists provided by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency to ensure prompt control measures in case of bedbug occurrences.
