'Arrest of Jeon Jang-yeon, Leader of the "Subway Protest," Caught in the Act... Hospitalized Due to Pain' Park Kyung-seok, the representative of the National Solidarity for the Elimination of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities (Jeonjangyeon), is holding a press conference on the morning of the 24th at Hyehwa Station in Seoul regarding Seoul Metro's announcement to completely block Jeonjangyeon's subway protest.

On the morning of the same day, Park held a mobility rights protest at the platform of Hyehwa Station on Subway Line 4. Despite demands from the police and Seoul Metro to vacate the area, he refused and was taken into custody around 8:40 a.m. Park lay down on the floor and engaged in a prolonged standoff with the police. He is currently complaining of pain due to injuries and has been transported to a hospital.

Seoul Metro announced the day before that it would "completely block Jeonjangyeon's protests." In particular, to prevent intentional train delays, they decided to implement a three-step strong response plan including ▲blocking station entry ▲restricting boarding by suspending the opening and closing of platform screen doors upon entry ▲and taking legal action against all illegal activities.

At a press conference on the same day, Jeonjangyeon criticized the policy to completely block subway protests as "an illegal measure that fundamentally blocks the mobility rights of people with disabilities," calling it "a hateful political idea that divides and discriminates between citizens and people with disabilities."
