Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, urged residents to follow infectious disease prevention guidelines to prevent tuberculosis, influenza, and other infections in preparation for the winter season when people spend more time indoors.
According to the county on the 23rd, infectious diseases that mainly occur in winter include norovirus infection, tuberculosis, influenza, and respiratory infections such as COVID-19.

To prevent norovirus infection, the county advised cooking shellfish such as clams and oysters thoroughly. For the prevention of respiratory infections like tuberculosis and influenza, proper handwashing, observing cough etiquette, and ventilation were emphasized.
Additionally, natural ventilation for about 10 minutes can reduce the risk of airborne infections like COVID-19 by up to one-third. During the winter, when indoor activities increase, ventilating the space for more than 10 minutes at least three times a day is effective in preventing respiratory infections.
To prevent respiratory infections such as influenza, flu vaccinations have been administered at the Public Health Center and designated vaccination institutions since the 11th of last month. The county recommends that elderly people, immunocompromised individuals, and those working in vulnerable facilities who have not yet been vaccinated get their flu shots promptly.
The COVID-19 vaccine currently administered at Imsil Internal Medicine and nine other designated vaccination medical institutions is a new vaccine developed to respond to the currently circulating variants and is completed with a single dose regardless of previous COVID-19 vaccination history.
However, since vaccination is possible only three months after the last dose, prior confirmation is necessary. Residents can inquire and visit the nearest designated medical institution.
County Governor Shim Min said, “To proactively respond to the influenza epidemic and respiratory infections such as COVID-19, we hope residents protect their health during winter by following infectious disease prevention guidelines and getting vaccinated.”
