Inha University Signs Agreement with Three Central Asian Universities to Foster Convergent Talent for Climate Crisis Response

Inha University is joining forces with three Central Asian universities to cultivate convergence talents in response to the climate crisis.

On the 23rd, the Inha University Climate Crisis Response Project Group announced that it had signed agreements with Tashkent Inha University (IUT) and Tashkent University of Technology (AUT) in Uzbekistan, as well as the Korean University of Central Asia (KICA) in Kyrgyzstan.

According to the agreements, these institutions will jointly develop and operate educational programs to promote and raise awareness of climate crisis response in both countries. They will also collaborate on international cooperation programs for climate crisis response education and talent development. Additionally, activities such as student-led field visits related to the climate crisis, visits and investigations of environmental companies and institutions, execution of climate crisis response projects, and holding performance reporting sessions and publishing reports are planned.

Central Asia faces various issues including water resource depletion represented by the Aral Sea problem, desertification expansion, and worsening air and water pollution due to rapid industrialization and urbanization.

Kim Jeong-ho, head of the Inha University Climate Crisis Response Project Group, said, "This agreement aims to raise climate crisis sensitivity among young people in Korea and Central Asia and support them in developing related competencies and problem-solving abilities." He added, "We will contribute to cultivating convergence talents for climate crisis response by developing and operating educational cooperation programs with universities worldwide."
